Every Paw Deserves a Second Chance.

Free the Paws is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescuing animals across Dallas-Fort Worth — one paw at a time.

Our Mission

Free the Paws is dedicated to rescuing vulnerable dogs and cats across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, providing urgent medical care, safety, and plenty of love. As a community-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we partner with local shelters, volunteers, and supporters to give every animal we meet a real chance at a healthy, happy life.

From the moment an animal enters our care to the day they find their forever family, we walk beside them — healing their bodies, rebuilding their trust, and matching them with adopters who will cherish them for life.

Meet Some of Our Rescues

Biscuit — 2-year-old Male Dog

Biscuit is a goofy, tail-wagging cuddle bug who was found wandering a busy street. Now that he knows he’s safe, he’s all smiles, belly rubs, and zoomies. He’s ready to bring joy and laughter to a family of his own.

Luna — 1-year-old Female Cat

Luna came to us shy and unsure, but with gentle care she’s blossomed into a purring, window-sunbeam-loving sweetheart. She adores chin scratches and would be the perfect companion for a calm, loving home.

Duke — 3-year-old Male Dog

Duke is a loyal, gentle soul who loves long walks and longer naps at your feet. After overcoming a rough start, he’s ready to be someone’s best friend and adventure buddy for life.

Happy Tails 🐾

“We adopted our pup from Free the Paws and the experience was incredible. They were honest, supportive, and clearly loved every animal in their care. Our dog Milo has brought so much joy into our lives.”

— Sarah & James, DFW adopters

“Free the Paws matched us with a cat who fits our family perfectly. They made sure we were prepared and checked in after the adoption. It feels like we’re part of a caring community, not just a process.”

— Mia, first-time adopter

“As foster parents, we’ve seen firsthand how much heart this organization has. They provide supplies, guidance, and encouragement every step of the way. Together we’ve helped several dogs find their forever homes.”

— Carlos & Elena, repeat fosters
